This is my attempt to relieve the gloom of the interior with the roof on. It's a bit scruffy, but I'm no craftsman :(

I used it on the Normandy trip, and it didn't leak at all. There wasn't much opportunity for roofless travel, so it was nice to have.

It's essentially a sheet of perspex glued on to replace the top metal skin.

The exterior view. The problem was to fit a "fairing" under the top surface to neaten things up. The solution, self-adhesive plastic tape, spray-painted matt black, has not been a great success - if I did it again, I'd use something like "loudspeaker cloth" (if you can still get it !)

The interior is a bit neater, I think. The inner metal skin and the trim were cut away to provide the rectangular aperture, and trimmed with plastic edging (Halfords door edging).

Forgot to say - I wasn't looking for weight reduction, but the modified panel seems to be less than half the weight of the original. Obviously it's not as stiff, and there are some creaks and groans on rough roads. Tha doesn't get owt for nowt!
