Steering Wheel replacement

Has anyboby fitted a replacement Momo steering wheel to their Cappuccino.
If so what type and what type of wheel adaptor boss to fit over the splined steering column ?
How easy did you find connecting the centre push horn and retaining the indicator cancelling mechanism.

Any advice would be welcome

I am looking to fit a slightly smaller leather wheel but want a proffessional installation.

Hi Nick,

I had thought about replacing the steering wheel too, but decided to play with the stereo instead and so consequently ran out of money!

But did notice at the time someone else with the same question, and noted down the response.... this was about 8 months ago!!

But I made no note of the company name , and they also therefore may not exist?? Although the part number should be perfect for the Momo boss needed for the Cappuccino and should probably be available from most stockists like Halfords etc.... I think it was also mentioned that this boss also works with the suzuki indicators perfectly.

But I have to be honest as I have not had a go at changing the steering wheel myself, this info could be out of date. Sorry! But for 15 quid its not too much of a risk??

Unfortunately the part number is not specific. The company is Carnoisseur and they do not have the Cappuccino listed for fitment.

Does anybody else out there have a Momo wheel on their car and if so if it has a Momo boss the part number will be stamped on the side ????

Do the indicators cancel and does the central Momo horn button work.

I would welcome any advice or information

Hiya there Nick!

I`ve just swapped my standard "bus proportioned s/wheel" to a Momo "Race" one. It`s 320mm and suits the car well (i think so in anycase ) You need an adaptor boss to make the wheel fit. You can buy it from "demon tweeks" based in Wrexham, they do mail order so it will be no problem!
The full part number is:

The only hitch is that you need to slightly modify the adaptor. It has a "lip" on it that needs to be lathed off. A bench or hand grinder does the trick a.o.k. It takes about 15-20 minutes to do.
That`s the "hard" bit. Fitting is real easy and will take 5 minutes. It`s a case of firstly removing the plastic centre horn cover on the wheel (just pops off). This will reveal 6 allen key bolts which hold the s/wheel on. Simply undo them (can be a little stubborn!) remove wheel. Detach horn which is held on by spade connector. Put new adaptor boss over the aligning holes, then put your new Momo wheel on the adaptor (re-connect the spade connector for the horn) and VOILA! Your done
Hope it all goes smoothly....
all you need to decide then is which momo wheel you want to buy

Mark has fitted a different sterring wheel to our Cappo, and we purchased it from Carnoissor. The central horn works but you have to earth the steering wheel to the chasis.

the part is an adapter ring that moves the holes through 60 degrees and makes the distance between the holes slightly smaller so that they fit a momo steering wheel.

This seems ok for the UK Cappuccinos but i have found that my later Capp with power steering has the steering wheel directly mounted to the spline on the end of the column with 19mm A/F nut.

Therefore i need an adaptor to fit directly to the spline using the existing nut which then has the holes to mount the Momo wheel to.

Has anybody with a later Capp used a Momo adaptor directly to this spline and if so what is the Momo part Number ?

Our UK Cappa has a Momo Corse wheel fitted, but reading the thread above it appears you need info for a later model. Whilst on the topic I am looking for a red horn push button to replace the yellow one fitted. Anybody got any ideas ?

Can you tell me exactly how your Momo wheel is fitted.

I know the wheel bolts to an adaptor with 6 bolts but is the adaptor on your car just one piece and bolted directly to the splined shaft with a single nut ?

If so what make is the adaptor and what part number if any is stamped on it.

As i have a later Cappuccino the steering wheel is one piece and bolts directly to the splined shaft with a single nut.

I therefore need an adaptor from this splined shaft to the Momo steering wheel.

The wheel on our Cappa is secured by a boss which is held in place by 6 small allen screws. Would need to remove the boss to see about single nut. Can maybe take a look at doing that over the weekend if that would help you. Let me know ..............

Yes please , I need to know who makes the adaptor boss, if it is a single piece joining the wheel to the column and part number if any marked on it.
Also if possible can you tell me how many splines , the size of thread and the outer diameter of the splined shaft.
Mine has PAS and may have a different thread to the column end.

Removed the wheel today. The Momo wheel is secured by 6 allen screws through a flange, through the wheel and onto an adaptor ring which is then in turn secured to the recessed plate which bolts to the steering colomn via the central 15mm nut. No sign of part numbers anywhere I'm afraid.

Any further Qs, just let me know
