Hi all,
i am in need of a new stainless steel exhaust for my capp. the original is falling apart. i looked at the old archived forum and just wondered if anyone posting about these systems, did actually buy one. if so, have u any feedback??

I got one for my winter car (Mazda MX-3) recently from London Stainless Steel (they advertise in the mag). Its a bit noisier than I would like, but that may be a stainless steel characteristic, and more appropriate to a Cappo anyway (if it were to apply). Certainly, the quality appears good, and they took a great deal of trouble and time to get it fitted right. (While you wait, the Turkish cafe down the road does superb sandwiches
)
They are likely to be cheaper than the price on the HKS website (as they include fitting in their price). If you contact them, be sure to mention you're a SCORE member - 20% off

Stainless steel exhaust

The HKS exhaust system is not made from stainless steel and is very noisy.
You could use London Stainless as recommended by Ian. They make either a blueprint of the original system in stainless or a larger bore sports system also in stainless.
Their prices have gone up though and are not such a bargain to Score members as they used to be.
Otherwise i would recommend Hayward and Scott in Basildon Essex.
I have just had a one off system made by them for my EA21R Cappuccino, It is made totally from 304 stainless steel (the best) and all the bends are mandrel formed which is the better method to use for smooth exhaust flow. The system is 2 inch diameter and the exit pipe is 2.75 inch diameter with 6mm inward rolled edge.
They made the system as a copy of the original system using all the original mounting points and used a stainless woven flexible section in the same position as the original.
They also polished the visible back box and exit pipe surfaces.
It is slightly louder than original due to free flowing back box but not silly.
The price all in was £350 + vat. which is similar to the new London Stainless price.
As the system is a one off hand made job i had to book the car in with them 4 weeks in advance and then they had the car for 3 days.This is a drive in drive out service and the exhaust fits very well.

I am going to have another made for my Manual Capp at the same place and if you need another recommendation ask Dave Benson who made his system.
If anybody is interested in a system from Hayward and Scott but has doubts about the quality I live close to them so email me and see my recently made system before you book in.

My comment about the noise from a HKS exhaust came from another owner who was selling one recently i was obviously misled.
TDI and HKS in the UK say that the exhaust is only made from mild steel and still rusts.
What is your HKS exhaust made from

I have just had my cappy fitted with a full stainless system by a firm called rebel powerpipes in Scunthorpe, total price £176 inc VAT and fitting.

Can you provide any more info on your replacement exaust, as the price looks good and I'm in need ! As it seems a good bit cheaper than other prices quoted, is the quality satisfactory ? What was the quality of service like ? Do you know if they do a larger bore pipe ? and last of all, where are they !!
