Clarion Advice Please

Hi

Can anybody help with some advice about how to upgrade the sound quality from the std Clarion radio/cassette - within a reasonable budget ! Last time I had the centre console out I noticed what seemed like additional speaker leads, can they be used for rear speakers ? Also, are the tweeters still available and are they worth fitting?. Last question, does anybody have a CD changer that they no longer want, due to an upgrade to the std fit ?

You can get a very good result from a Pioneer or Sony Radio/CD for about £120; mine's a Pioneer and I reckon its ace.

According to the wiring diagram, there are no rear speaker leads fitted in the standard Cappo Perhaps you saw the leads to the tweeters

Also, are the tweeters still available and are they worth fitting?

Brendan Moloney may still have some; they are very effective, especially if you want to listen at 70mph with the roof off.

Bargin priced improvement! -

Last week I fitted some 'Dynamat' behind the standard speakers, its a self adhesive acoustic matting.

For just over ten pounds the difference it makes is amazing, well worth a try.

I have a Pioneer CD head-unit which is excellent.

I bought from Halfords(!) but I think its available from 'most good car accessory shops'

I have exerimented with this and similar stuff before on other cars and it really does make a difference. The ideal of course would be to change the speakers also...

Basically stick Dynamat to the metalwork at the rear of the speaker hole and also to the plastic trim. Anything that rattles will benefit from its fitment.

They also do other products to help reduce engine and road noise but maybe that would spoil the fun of a Cappuccino

Following on from Dani's recommendation at last years JAE, I have fitted a pair of 4" speakers (from Halfords) into the headrests of the Cappo, the wires go down through the seat along centre console to the stereo - or at least will with our next stereo upgrade in next two weeks.:D
From Dani's demonstration the difference is amazing, you do not have to keep turning the volume up and down according to speed :oops: .

just the sort of advice I'm looking for !

would much appreciate an info sheet. no great hurry as the replacement of a rusty exhaust comes first, but would greatly appreciate info on 'how to'
