Is a CAT required ?

There was a thread a while back regarding whether or not the Cappa needs a CAT at all. As I am rapidly approaching the time to get an SS exhaust built, it would be useful to know if a CAT is actually required ? and if not then to get the system built without it. Also is the woven section really required ? Any members with experience ?

If I remember correctly, it hinges on the date the car was first registered. If its an L or M, there were no emission figures published by Suzuki, so the default figures are applied, and a CAT is not needed. If its an M, the converse is true. But apparently not all testing stations are aware of these rules, so it would be prudent to arm yourself with a copy of them.

I am interested in tracking this one down. Has anybody else got to the bottom of whether or not the CAT is required ie tracked down the regs, or had experience of this. As when I get an SS pipe made up I'd like to junk the CAT. S'pose I could always get a transition pipe made up to take the place of the CAT if not sure ..................?
