:?: Adrian or anyone else, Just looked at your photo's, great stuff. Could you tell me if there is any way of telling if your car is Silver or the Gold? Is there a colour code on the plate? I think mine is the Gold but after seeing the photo I'm not sure. Never seen another to compare. Thanks Tina

Colour

Tina,

There were two types of "Silver" produced. One the standard Silver and the other was called Champagne. The Chapagne silver looks like it is kind of gold tinged. It sounds like that is what you have 8)

You can identify the colour of you car from the three digit paint code located on the chassis plate mounted on the bulkhead in the engine bay.

The "champagne" colour that Mark refers to has a colour code of 0DE and is called Satellite Silver Metallic, this colour has been seen on a lot of the early used cars exported from Japan. The more conventional silver colour is known as Mercury Silver and can be found on 20% of the UK cars. I used to have a picture of a UK car parked next to mine and the difference in colour was obvious.
