Classics Magazine features Cappuccino

The March 2002 edition of Classics includes a good plug for the Cappuccino. Quote "check out the Suzuki Cappuccino. Quite unlike most sports cars, their peppy little engines give superb performance for their size.....with it's looks, performance, reliability and assured classic status, the Suzuki Cappuccino is my tip for the top." Unquote. This follows the main article in the June 2001 magazine and includes another photograph. Not a mention of rust anywhere!

The Dobson's car is in an excellent condition and never leaves the car below 10 degrees celcius So they never experienced rust problems.

A reply to an old message I know. But on reading this article and looking at the pictures, I couldnt help but notice that the engine bay picture seems to show that the engine bay area is bright shiney red (as per the car exterior) instead of the dull dark red I would expect. Has this car had its engine bay resprayed, if so why (just out of interest)

If it is M876 BAP you are talking about in the classic car magazine, I can assure you the engine bay has not been resprayed just cleaned.

Previously Mark and I went to a show and did not realise that we were showing the car until we arrived and the engine bay was filthy, since then Mark regularly cleans it so we are not caught out again.

Out of interest - does anyone know why some Japanese cars have this dull paintwork under the bonnet??

Both my Cappuccino and Celica appear to have the same dull red colour under the bonnet.

Makes it impossible to disguise any paint repairs!


Sounds like Katy and Mark Dobson must use a lot of cotton-buds and toothbrushes

Katy and Mark must have to much spare time on their hands to start cleaning and polishing within the engine bay.

I must admit I was think about getting my engine bay steam clean. But I wasn't sure if the cappo engine would surive a steam clean Also the ally bits in the engine bay have started to get that white stuff on them.

I don't have the time to clean the engine bay using a toothbrush beside as I use the cappo every day the clean engine bay will not last for very long.

Mark uses a power wash (on a stream rather than jet) to clean the engine bay, as we don't use our car everyday it does not get that dirty.

The colour of the engine bay is red oxide primer which we have touched up where necessary. As far as the white stuff is it is the oxidation of the aluminium parts which just needs wire brushing off.

I'm trying to locate this magazine in Australia. Can someone please confirm whether "Classics" is the actual name of the mag? We get a UK magazine called "Classic and Sportscar", but I've looked through the March edition and couldn't see a reference to the Cappuccino.

Also, if someone could give a page number that'd be handy too.

OK, I located the March 2002 edition of "Practical Classics" and found the article. I might be missing something but it dosen't appear to have the quote mentioned at the start of this thread in it. I also noticed on the old message board http://www.score.org.uk/wwwboard/messages/1732.html there was a discussion about a magazine in which the Cap was voted best car in certain price/year ranges. This appears to be a different magazine from Practical Classics (although released in the same month and also referred to by people as "Classics" magazine). That this is another magazine appears to be confirmed by http://www.score.org.uk/wwwboard/messages/1831.html.

Can anyone tell me what the proper title of that magazine is?

The article and photograph of my Cappuccino refered to earlier appeared in "Classics" magazine in March 2002. There was another, longer, feature in the June 2001 edition. Nothing to do with Practical Classics as far as I know.
